This site combines my personal sense of adventure and my professional background with tales from the high seas and how they can sometimes translate to the work world or the home world.

Mariner
Born and raised in southeast Alaska, my life on the water began when I was a child.
I started fishing when I was five and have been driving boats since I was nine. I love deep sea fishing for billfish and other big game species. I practice tag-and-release for all billfish. I began sailing in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, USA) in 2018.
Being on the water, in any capacity, is my happy place.
Leader
A 20+ year career in business and technology led to various leadership roles and managing many enterprise programs for large-scale companies. I now run my own consulting firm.
I have created and coached youth sports teams, led my personal recreational sports teams, and been a board member of multiple organizations.
Adventurer
Not one to say “no” to a crazy adventure, I have summited many mountain peaks, deep sea fished in many countries, circumnavigated Mont Blanc, sailed the Adriatic Sea, and am now embarking upon the Clipper Round the World Race as a circumnavigator.
If it sounds just crazy enough, chances are I will say “Yes!”
Why “Windward Leader”
I love when professional and personal life experiences intersect – where one can teach the other. When I stumbled upon the phrase “Windward Leadership” and its definition, it fully resonated with who I am.
“Windward Leadership” refers to the ability to lead an organization or team into the prevailing winds and political seas, navigating challenges and adversity to achieve goals. Adaptability, resilience, vision, communication, and strategic thinking are all key characteristics – not just in the confines of a conference room.
